AISI

The AI Security Institute (AISI) is the UK government's research body dedicated to understanding and mitigating the risks posed by advanced AI systems. Operating within the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, it conducts technical safety research, evaluates frontier AI models, and works with governments and AI developers to develop safeguards. Originally established in November 2023 as the AI Safety Institute, it was renamed AISI in February 2025.
