Conception X

Conception X is a not-for-profit venture-building platform and the largest cross-university deep technology programme for PhD researchers across Europe, supporting them to launch startups based on their proprietary research. Founded in 2018 within UCL's Faculty of Engineering, it runs the Venture Scientist 100 fellowship and investment-readiness programmes, and has helped create over 200 deep tech startups valued at more than £1 billion. In 2025 it also launched an angel syndicate to fund European deep tech PhD founders.
