
South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) was a publicly-backed regional fund incorporated in 2000 that provided seedcorn finance, business loans, and equity-linked investments of £15,000 to £2.5 million to small and medium-sized businesses in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster. Over its nine-year life it invested approximately £57 million in over 360 companies across South Yorkshire, creating and safeguarding more than 9,100 jobs; its functions were subsequently transferred to Finance Yorkshire.
