As a member of the C3 AI Data Science team, you will work with some of the largest companies on the planet to build the next generation of AI-powered enterprise applications on the C3 AI Platform. You will work directly with data scientists, software engineers and subject matter experts to define new analytics capabilities, identify appropriate machine learning algorithms and implement them on the platform so they can run at scale. You will need in-depth knowledge of common machine learning techniques and their application, as well as an understanding of their limitations and how to adapt or derive similar approaches for large-scale use.
This is a frontline role on consequential AI programmes in UK and European defence. You will help design and deploy AI for predictive maintenance, Digital Targeting and logistics in contested and degraded environments. These are live programmes with real operational stakes, delivered into demanding, secure settings across the UK MOD, NATO and allied European partners. Some travel to customer and partner locations should be expected.
Responsibilities include leading the research, design, implementation and deployment of machine learning algorithms, intelligent agents and optimisation solutions for enterprise applications using the C3 AI Suite; assisting customers in building their own applications on the platform; contributing to new C3 AI Suite features; analysing model performance across asset fleets; diagnosing issues such as low risk scores or false positives; recommending hyperparameter adjustments; and collaborating with data and subject matter experts to seek, understand, validate, interpret and correctly use new data elements.
This role supports defence programmes that require UK Security Clearance. Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, SC / NATO clearance. Eligibility is set by the contracting authority and typically requires a minimum of five years’ continuous UK residence.
Candidates should have an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics or an equivalent field; applied AI experience including generative AI, agentic solutions, regression and classification, and supervised and unsupervised learning; a strong mathematical background in linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics; and experience with scalable machine learning such as MapReduce or streaming. You should be able to drive a project and work independently and in a team, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with JavaScript, Python or R is preferred, while Java and Scala are a plus. A portfolio of projects, GitHub work or papers is also a plus.
C3 AI provides excellent benefits, a competitive compensation package and a generous equity plan.
