About Nscale: Nscale is building the infrastructure for Europe’s AI revolution, developing sovereign generative AI solutions powered by high-performance, sustainable data centres and GPUs designed for AI workloads. The company works with advanced AI technology providers, integrating next-generation compute hardware and GPU clusters in partner and Nscale-built facilities across Europe and beyond.
Role overview: The Senior Commissioning Manager will lead and coordinate commissioning activities for Nscale’s hyperscale data centre projects across Europe. The role is responsible for system testing, verification and handover, ensuring facilities meet performance, safety and operational-readiness standards. This owner-side position requires strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical and controls systems, together with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders throughout the commissioning process. Working with the Commissioning Agent or Technical Services Partner, Project Managers, MEP teams and contractors, the role will ensure that integrated testing and documentation are completed to a high standard before project completion.
Key responsibilities include leading commissioning through execution, testing and handover; developing and managing project-specific commissioning plans, schedules and test procedures; coordinating mechanical, electrical, controls and life-safety systems; ensuring commissioning aligns with project design intent, operational requirements and Nscale standards; overseeing FAT, SAT and IST testing; reviewing commissioning reports, punch lists and closeout documentation; collaborating with contractors, consultants and operations teams on energisation and integration testing; managing the transition between construction, QA/QC and operations; resolving issues affecting functionality, reliability or safety; and supporting lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement of Nscale’s commissioning standards and procedures.
Qualifications include at least eight years’ experience in commissioning or MEP management, with considerable experience in data centres, mission-critical environments or large infrastructure projects. Candidates should be qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent discipline, and have proven experience managing integrated commissioning of critical power and cooling systems. Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, documentation and regulatory compliance is required, along with experience of FAT, SAT and IST testing for data centre systems. Excellent coordination, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. Fluency in English is required; additional European languages are advantageous.
