AI safety in London

London has become one of the few places where frontier AI development, independent safety research and public-sector evaluation operate in close proximity. Google DeepMind, Anthropic and OpenAI sit alongside AISI, the Alan Turing Institute and the Ada Lovelace Institute, with specialist teams such as Apollo Research, Conjecture and Mindgard working on evaluation, alignment and security. That concentration gives London unusual depth across both the technical and institutional challenges of deploying increasingly capable AI systems safely.
