This is a first-line product compliance role working directly alongside engineers and product managers to translate regulatory obligations into scalable, defensible and globally consistent product decisions.
As Wise expands into new markets, corridors and payment schemes, you will own the compliance strategy for core product flows that determine customer eligibility, including verifying where customers live, handling customers who move between countries and allocating customers to the correct licensed entity. You will work across product screens, data models and engineering decisions, surfacing the practical implications of regulatory requirements and driving alignment between legal, product and engineering teams across multiple markets.
Wise is continuously evolving the regulatory infrastructure used to demonstrate compliance across its licences, markets and products. You will help shape and strengthen this capability by partnering with engineers, product teams and compliance specialists to ensure regulatory obligations are accurately reflected in systems and translated into appropriate controls, while helping to make the approach scalable.
As international standards for payment messaging and data requirements evolve, you will own the compliance thread for how Wise’s product and data infrastructure keeps pace. You will work closely with data engineering, scheme specialists and regional legal counsel to ensure payment flows are accurate, complete and consistently applied across every market in which Wise operates.
As Group Product Compliance Lead, you will own compliance strategy and delivery across Wise for core domains such as payment processing, obligations-to-control mapping and verification standards. You will translate complex, multi-jurisdictional obligations into actionable product and engineering decisions; represent Wise’s compliance position to regional regulators, internal forums and external auditors where required; build relationships with product, policy and compliance teams globally; and help define and scale assurance frameworks that give Wise confidence its controls are working.
Wise is looking for someone with deep fintech compliance experience and a track record of working directly in product teams. You should be comfortable in codebases, engineering discussions and architecture reviews; able to move between regulatory text and product specifications; a strong communicator who can synthesise regulatory complexity for non-specialists; and comfortable operating in ambiguity and defining structure where none exists. You should have experience influencing decisions across legal, engineering and product at senior levels, familiarity with payment scheme rules including SEPA, SWIFT and domestic real-time rails, experience with multi-entity or multi-licence compliance structures, and working knowledge of KYC and identity-verification frameworks and their related product decisions.
The role offers real ownership, with the opportunity to ship things rather than only advise; genuine cross-functional ownership spanning product, engineering and compliance; the chance to shape infrastructure and frameworks operating at company scale and affecting every Wise customer and licensed entity; and collaboration with an exceptional cross-functional team across product, engineering, compliance, risk and banking. Wise is committed to diverse, equitable and inclusive teams.
