Wise is looking for a Remediation Lead to lead high-stakes, cross-functional global remediation and compliance initiatives. Sitting at the intersection of Risk & Compliance, Product and Operations, this role will act as the master orchestrator for complex, multi-dimensional compliance programmes. It requires an authoritative background in financial crime, risk management and first-line control assurance. The role owns board-level updates, global remediation tracking and direct external communication with regulatory authorities, as well as establishing the long-term plan and framework for remediation management globally.
The Remediation Team owns programme management for all regulatory remediation workstreams globally; establishes frameworks for escalation, reporting and decision-making; provides technical challenge on approach, timelines and output quality; facilitates decision-making across stakeholders rather than merely coordinating; and delivers clear, regular reporting to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
The role will lead the end-to-end design, governance and structural execution of volatile, large-scale issues and global regulatory remediation programmes across multiple teams. It will serve as a key point of contact for external regulatory examinations and audits, managing requests, coordinating evidence collection and directly leading communications with regulators. The Remediation Lead will provide subject-matter challenge on approaches, timelines and output quality, facilitate decision-making across stakeholders and mediate between them.
The role will build framework structures for executive reporting and own the creation and delivery of high-stakes updates, risk registers and operational progression metrics presented directly to the Board of Directors and Regional Committees. It will navigate Wise’s autonomous culture to break down silos, align conflicting product roadmaps and secure engineering prioritisation for critical friction-deflection and compliance-led process redesigns. It will also establish the methodology to quantify the cost of compliance friction and evaluate process trends using rigorous qualitative and quantitative data storytelling to inform senior management’s strategic trade-offs.
Candidates should have 8+ years of experience leading complex programme management, remediations or first-line risk and compliance within a hyper-growth fintech, Tier-1 bank or highly regulated financial institution. They should have direct project or programme management experience and be extremely organised when driving alignment and tracking key deliverables across stakeholders. Deep expert knowledge of financial crime, AML, sanctions, KYC/CDD and risk mitigation platforms is required, together with a thorough understanding of how compliance controls translate into frontline operational workflows.
Candidates should have a proven track record of directly interfacing with major regulatory bodies and navigating complex statutory examinations, consent orders or multi-jurisdictional lookbacks. Exceptional communication and persuasion skills are required, including the ability to confidently present to, challenge and influence C-suite executives, Board members and product leads without formal authority. The role requires a systems thinker and problem solver who can translate abstract or ambiguous regulatory requirements into concrete, repeatable process blueprints built for 10x growth. Advanced analytical rigour and experience using complex financial or operational metrics or BI tools such as Looker, Lightdash or SQL are desirable.
